HandSpring Technologies started in 2022 with a question a sleep clinician asked us: why does the equipment that tells you something real about your body only exist in a hospital? Four years later the answer weighs 3.4 grams.
Three rules we have not broken.
Measure, don't motivate
We will never send a push notification telling you to stand up. The ring reports; you decide. Streaks, badges and guilt are not features.
Show the arithmetic
Every score in the app opens into the inputs and weights that produced it. If we can't explain a number we don't ship it.
The essentials stay free
You bought an instrument. Core metrics, software updates and exports come with owning it. If we add a paid feature, it will be optional.

Founded
Two engineers and a sleep clinician in Palo Alto. First prototype was a 3D-printed ring with a wire to a laptop.
HSRing first generation
5.1 g, four-day battery. 12,000 units sold; the feedback that became this ring.
Sleep apnea screening
Fourteen-night risk band shipped after a 42-person validation study against polysomnography.
X3, second generation
3.4 g, seven days, 100 m. In-house assembly line in Shenzhen. Free sizing kit for every order.
Small on purpose.
Forty-one people across hardware, firmware, signal processing, clinical research and support. We design and validate in Shenzhen and Palo Alto and assemble the ring in our own line, which is the only way we know to hold a 3.4-gram tolerance.
